See Ireland's history from the river
 |
The River Shannon
offers a potted history of Ireland's past. Ancient monastic settlements,
Napoleonic fortifications, turf cutting - and even evidence of the
recent Celtic Tiger - it is all here. Many of the sights are easily
accessible by boat and even have private jetties. Some of the old
fortifications have been converted into bars or shops, so you can see
the insides as well. |
